What Is Cell Saver?

During most surgical procedures, there is a probability of losing blood. A cell saver device filters lost blood and reintroduces it to the body. Patients undergoing minimally invasive procedures will not need a cell saver as a safeguard. However, the technology is recommended for those at higher risk of suffering medium-high blood loss during liposuction procedures.

If your blood work contains hemoglobin between 11.0 and 11.9, Avance Plastic Surgery will recommend a cell saver. Your body requires healthy levels of red blood cells to aid healing. If you fall within these parameters, your doctor will discuss using a cell saver before liposuction or a BBL.

EXPAREL for Postsurgical Pain Relief

The term “analgesia” refers to the inability to feel pain. Surgical procedures range from minimally invasive to open surgery. The pain and discomfort levels you will likely feel during recovery will depend on several factors. EXPAREL® is used as a nerve block in adults to provide localized postsurgical relief.

Long-lasting pain relief is possible due to the slow release of the medication. The surgical area is effectively numbed using a local anesthetic. Also known as Bupivacaine, EXPAREL is delivered as a single dose. Some patients may need to combine this non-opioid analgesic with other pain relief drugs.
