Upneeq Blepharoptosis (Droopy Eyelids) Treatment

When your upper eyelids droop or stay lower than normal, your eyes look tired and sleepy. When the elevator muscles are weakened, or other changes occur to the upper eyelid, it can change the appearance of the eyes and face and result in blepharoptosis. At Avance Plastic Surgery, we offer UPNEEQ ® blepharoptosis (droopy eyelids) treatment at our clinic in the Reno and Lake Tahoe, NV, area.

What Is UPNEEQ?

Blepharoptosis or droopy upper eyelids is a common condition that makes the eyes look tired or “lazy.” It is more common as you get older, but it can occur at any age. Ptosis conditions can be repaired with plastic surgery, but there are also minimally invasive treatments that can result in eyes that look more open and energetic. One of these treatments is UPNEEQ prescription eye drops for blepharoptosis.

UPNEEQ’s main ingredient is oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution, which is used to treat acquired blepharoptosis in adults. The drops work by contracting muscles in the upper eyelid, allowing the eyelid to adjust upward by 1 to 2 millimeters. The effects of UPNEEQ are noticeable in about 15 minutes and last 6 to 8 hours. The eyedrops can be used daily to achieve a more alert, youthful appearance to low-lying upper eyelids.

Treatment for Botox Ptosis

One of the possible side effects of Botox injections to smooth lines and wrinkles on the brow or around the eyes is ptosis or droopy eyelids. Those who have droopy eyelids from Botox treatment may need to wait for weeks until the effects of Botox begin to wear off. UPNEEQ is a quick solution to restore open and alert eyes if they are droopy from Botox. These eyedrops can be used daily until the Botox-triggered ptosis subsides.

Whether you have acquired ptosis from aging, Botox injections or other conditions, UPNEEQ eyedrops may be right for you. If you live in the greater Reno or Lake Tahoe, NV area and want treatment for your droopy upper eyelids, come see us at Avance Plastic Surgery. We offer non-surgical blepharoptosis treatments with UPNEEQ prescription eyedrops, as well as permanent eyelid lifts with blepharoplasty.
