GalaFLEX™ Mesh – The Internal Bra
Over time, hormones, nursing, menopause, and the natural aging process weaken the soft tissues that support the breasts, leading to sagging that a traditional lift alone may not keep at bay. GalaFLEX™ mesh offers an innovative solution: an FDA-approved, absorbable mesh placed internally during breast surgery to act as an “internal bra,” providing structural support for a firmer, perkier, and more youthful, longer-lasting result. It’s one of the advanced techniques available at Avance Plastic Surgery Institute in Reno/Tahoe, NV.
The GalaFLEX internal bra is performed by Dr. Erez Dayan, a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and Medical Director of Avance Plastic Surgery Institute recognized for adopting and advancing cutting-edge breast techniques. Trained in the Harvard Plastic Surgery Program — where he served as Chief Resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital — and fellowship-trained in aesthetic surgery at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, Dr. Dayan incorporates GalaFLEX support into breast lifts, augmentations, revisions, and reductions to enhance both the strength and the longevity of his results. It is one of several cosmetic breast surgery options he offers.
How the GalaFLEX Mesh Works
The GalaFLEX mesh is inserted during cosmetic breast surgery and attached to the chest wall to provide support. Mesh fibers anchor and lift breast tissue firmly to the skin like an internal bra. Over a couple of years, the material dissolves into the body as water and carbon dioxide after building a network of elastin and collagen. The newly formed collagen tissue can be up to four times stronger than the original breast tissue.
This can help tighten and firm tissues and muscles for natural and long-lasting results. The GalaFLEX procedure can be used to support any breast augmentation procedure, including implants, revisions and breast reduction. Recovery after this minimally invasive cosmetic procedure can take approximately six weeks, and you may need to take a week off work while you heal. You may experience mild swelling and bruising after the surgery. Drains can reduce swelling for the first week.
