Non-Surgical Labiaplasty
While labia size is individual to each person, it is very common for women to feel self-conscious about how their labia looks or the impact it has on their lives. Some women dislike how elongated labia appear in tight-fitting garments. Others may find it causes them pain when doing physical activities, like riding a bicycle. At times, it can interfere with intimacy, either because of embarrassment, the extra tissue reducing sensation or the tissue causing pain. No matter the reason, labiaplasty is a common vaginal rejuvenation procedure, with more women choosing to improve their quality of life each year. Previously, the only option for labiaplasty was surgery. Today’s techniques can offer excellent results with non-surgical labiaplasty.
Non-surgical labiaplasty at Avance Plastic Surgery Institute is performed by Dr. Erez Dayan, a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and Medical Director of the practice whose authority in this area is built on his own research — he authored the peer-reviewed article “Radiofrequency Treatment of Labia Minora and Majora: A Minimally Invasive Approach to Vulva Restoration.” Harvard-trained, where he served as Chief Resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, and fellowship-trained in aesthetic surgery at the renowned Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, Dr. Dayan is a sought-after investigator and key opinion leader for major aesthetic device companies and lectures on innovative techniques around the world. That combination of published expertise and hands-on experience with radiofrequency technology makes him uniquely qualified to perform non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation at his Reno/Tahoe, NV office.
AVIVA Radiofrequency Labiaplasty
AVIVA is a non-surgical option for reshaping the labia. Unlike surgical labiaplasty, there is little downtime, no IV anesthetic, no major scars and few limits on activities after the procedure. Instead, AVIVA uses mild sedation and nonsurgical radiofrequencies to reduce the size of the labia. Your labia will be both smaller and tighter.
How Does AVIVA work?
AVIVA uses local anesthetic, and with your entire pubic area frozen, you won’t feel anything during the procedure. AVIVA uses radiofrequency heat energy beneath the skin, through a tiny incision. The radiofrequency is also applied to the external portion of the labia. This heat combination stimulates the body to shrink the labial tissue and remodel the structures underneath, resulting in a smaller, tighter labia.
Is AVIVA safe?
This type of technology has been tested and is used in skin tightening procedures for both the face and the body. The device monitors the heat generated by the radiofrequency, so there is no risk of overheating or under-heating the tissues. It only requires local anesthetic and sometimes mild sedation, which is far less risky than the general anesthesia required for surgical reconstruction. The procedure usually takes under an hour, and many patients only experience minor discomfort for a few days following treatment. Traditional surgery can have several weeks of healing time, making AVIVA an excellent choice when you need to get back to your routine as quickly as possible.
Will AVIVA Also Correct Lax Pelvic Muscles?
AVIVA’s radiofrequencies work by removing fat and reshaping the outer labia. It does not address the concerns of rejuvenating the inside of the vagina, such as removing vaginal wrinkles or tightening the pelvic muscles. These services are available through the office using the Votiva procedure.
